Annual Bal Vihar Diwali Celebrations

We would like to invite our Bal Vihar community to celebrate Diwali on Sunday, November 10th at the Mahatma Gandhi Center.

We are very pleased to have many new families join us this year in celebrating Diwali, which is enjoyed equally by children and adults with outmost enthusiasm.

We have many parts to the celebration:

Event Schedule

3:30 PM: Children are to be dropped off at the upper level of the Mahatma Gandhi Center for a class picture (Children should be dressed in Indian attire)

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: After picture taking, the teachers will accompany children to the temple.

Parents are to stay at Mahatma Gandhi Center and pick up coupons for dinner and fireworks

Only after children are seated in the temple for puja, parents will be accommodated in to temple basement @ 5pm. No parents are to be seated upstairs; puja will be displayed downstairs for the viewers. Parents will be advised to go to the MGC before the children are dismissed after puja.

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Puja at the temple

6:00 PM – Children will be accompanied back to the Mahatma Gandhi Center by volunteers and teachers.

(We request that all parents to clear temple basement before children head to MGC)

6:30 PM  – 7:30 PM: Boxed dinner and fireworks will be handed out by the volunteers in exchange for tickets  – NO EXCEPTIONS

(We request the parents to collect tickets for the fireworks and dinner as the children are being seated in temple)

7:30 PM – 8:30 PM: Fireworks on the Mahatma Gandhi Center premises

(Parents need to supervise their children and take complete responsibility, as we anticipate many more children participating this year. We need undivided parent support and attention in making this event hazard free and vibrant with fireworks and colors. It is always advisable to change children in to comfortable warm clothing and have hair tightly secured for the fireworks)

8:30 PM – 9:00 PM: Dismissal and cleanup

LET US ALL COME TOGETHER THIS SUNDAY IN CELEBRATING DIWALI –

THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS WITH SHEER BRIGHTNESS AND JOY.
